London’s running calendar is about to get a lot more crowded and honestly we are here for it. The Great Run Company (the team behind the legendary Great North Run) has officially teamed up with Merton Council to launch a brand new closed-road half marathon. It is called Run South London and it officially debuts on Sunday 14 March 2027.
If you have been looking for an excuse to run past the iconic Wimbledon tennis courts without dodging traffic, this is your chance. We have dug through the official release and pulled all the vital facts you need to know before registration fills up.

Breaking Down the Route
Starting in Morden Park, the first few miles head straight north on closed roads through South Wimbledon, Wimbledon Chase and Raynes Park. You can expect serious local support through these neighbourhoods before the course hits the town centre.
The real highlight hits in the middle miles. You will circle Wimbledon Park and run right alongside the All England Lawn Tennis Club. From there the scenery shifts as you push onto Wimbledon Common. Expect heathland, woodland and a run past the historic Wimbledon Windmill before sweeping through the upscale streets of Wimbledon Village. The final stretch brings you back south into Raynes Park for a final burst of crowd support before finishing right back at Morden Park.
Registration and Pricing
Entries are handled through Let’s Do This and are currently open. If you are aged 17 or older on race day, you are good to go.

London does not lack half marathons but a closed-road event in the south-west has been noticeably absent. Getting The Great Run Company involved guarantees a slick operational setup from day one. With 105 meters of elevation it is not perfectly flat (the climb up Wimbledon Hill Road will test your calves) but it is absolutely PB-friendly. If you want a solid spring tune-up race or just want to tell everyone you ran the first ever edition, get your entry secured early.
