Registration

Registration for the Mumbai Half Marathon 2026 is open now. You can register via MySamay at the official event link https://mumbaihalfmarathon.com/re . On-spot registrations are not available — you must register in advance to secure your place.

Key rules before you register:

  • Changes, transfers and category downgrades are only permitted up to 60 days before the event date. After that, no requests are entertained under any circumstances
  • A ₹250 processing charge applies for cancellations
  • No partial refund is provided for downgrading race categories
  • BIBs are non-transferable — your BIB is assigned to you personally and cannot be used by another runner
  • If you need someone else to collect your BIB at the Expo, they must carry a signed consent letter from you along with a valid ID

On successful registration you will receive a confirmation email and SMS with a unique booking ID. Your BIB number and detailed race instructions will be sent 3–4 days before race day.

The Venue — Jio World Garden, BKC

The 2026 edition is hosted at Jio World Garden in Bandra Kurla Complex — one of Mumbai’s most modern and well-planned districts. BKC sits roughly central between the western and eastern suburbs, which makes it more accessible than coastal venues for runners coming from different parts of the city.

The full 2026 course map has not yet been published by organisers. Details will be updated on this page and the official site at mumbaihalfmarathon.com as they are confirmed closer to the event.

Note for returning runners: If you ran the Mumbai Half Marathon in earlier editions, the course has changed. Previous editions ran on the scenic Bandstand-Carter Road coastal route in Bandra. The current edition is based out of BKC — a different part of Mumbai with a different feel and terrain profile.

Running Mumbai in August — What You Need to Know

This is the part most race guides skip. The Mumbai Half Marathon is a monsoon race. August 30 puts you squarely in the middle of Mumbai’s heaviest rainfall months, and that changes everything about how you prepare and how you run.

I’ve trained through Delhi monsoons and run events in humid Indian summers — and humidity is the variable that destroys more races than pace miscalculation. Mumbai in August sits at close to 90% humidity even before sunrise. Your body’s cooling system — sweating — stops working efficiently because the air is already saturated. The result is that your perceived effort at any given pace is significantly higher than it would be in October or January.

Practical adjustments for a monsoon race:

  • Train through July and August in the most humid conditions you have access to. Early morning runs in Indian cities during peak monsoon are the best preparation available
  • Build your race-day pace target around humidity, not your PB effort. Going out at your usual half marathon pace in these conditions often leads to a blowup after 14–15km
  • Electrolyte loading the day before matters more in humid conditions — sweat rates are high even when you’re not working hard
  • Light, technical fabric is non-negotiable. A cotton t-shirt in Mumbai August humidity will feel like a wet towel by kilometre 5
  • Wet roads are a real consideration — wear shoes with reliable grip on wet surfaces, not your most minimalist race flat

On the positive side — Mumbai’s early morning race temperature in August is typically around 26–28°C, which is actually manageable if you account for the humidity in your effort calibration. Runners from drier northern cities like Delhi often find the heat more tolerable than they expected; it’s the humidity, not the temperature, that gets you.

Expo & BIB Collection

The Race Expo and BIB collection takes place one day before the event — Saturday, August 29, 2026. There is no BIB collection on race day. Specific timing and venue for the Expo will be updated on the official website and on this page as confirmed.

Bring your registration confirmation (email or SMS) and a valid government-issued photo ID. If you are collecting BIBs on behalf of other runners, you must carry a written consent letter from each registered participant.

Prize Money

Prize money details for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced. The organiser has confirmed that prize money will be awarded to overall winners across categories and that winners will be contacted within 30 days of race day to collect bank account details. Prize money is disbursed within 60 days of the event. This page will be updated when official prize structures are published.

A Brief History

The Mumbai Half Marathon has been running since 2016 under NEB Sports and has gone through two title sponsor changes in that time. The early editions ran as the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon. From 2022 it became the Ageas Federal Life Insurance Mumbai Half Marathon. The 2025 and 2026 editions run as the Mumbai Half Marathon without a title sponsor in the name.

NEB Sports also organises the Wipro Bengaluru Marathon — India’s AIMS-certified full marathon in September — bringing consistent race operations experience to both events.

Getting to Mumbai

Mumbai is served by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with direct connections from all major Indian cities. BKC (Bandra Kurla Complex) is well connected by the Mumbai Metro — Line 2B connects BKC directly and reduces race morning logistics significantly compared to driving in Mumbai traffic.

For out-of-town runners, accommodation in the BKC, Bandra, or Kurla areas places you closest to the start venue. Book early — August is a busy month for Mumbai with ongoing business travel.
