A Marine winning the Marines’ own marathon — and a runner from Colorado taking the women’s title. That is the story of the 51st Marine Corps Marathon. Kyle King, bib number 1, running under the Marines category, crossed the finish line at the Iwo Jima Memorial in 2:17:31 on Sunday to claim the men’s overall. On the women’s side, Kaylee Slade of Arvada, Colorado ran 2:44:34 to win the overall title — the top five women finishing within six and a half minutes of each other in one of the tighter women’s fields in recent MCM history.

Who Won the 2026 Marine Corps Marathon? Men’s Overall Results
King’s margin was decisive. The Montclair, Virginia runner — competing in the Armed Forces’ Marines division — put nearly five minutes into second place by the finish line. That second spot went to Daniel Soltys, listed under the British Royals military designation with a UK flag, who ran 2:22:10. MCM has long been a meeting ground for international Armed Forces runners alongside civilians, and Soltys finishing as runner-up underlines why the race carries the Armed Forces Marathon Championships on its weekend.
The battle for third through fifth was considerably tighter. Joseph Reimann of Lauderdale, Mississippi ran 2:23:28 for third. Lucas Stalnaker, another Marines runner out of San Diego, was fourth in 2:24:14 — giving the Corps two men in the top four. Jordan Smith of Stafford, Virginia rounded out the top five in 2:24:41. Worth noting: King’s 2026 winning time of 2:17:31 betters his own 2025 MCM winning time of 2:18:54 — a 1:23 improvement year on year.

MCM 2026 Women’s Marathon Results: Kaylee Slade Wins a Tight Race
Slade ran a measured, controlled race to take the women’s title. The 25-29 age grouper from Arvada, Colorado crossed in 2:44:34 — and had to earn it, with Rebekka Kalenga of Stafford, Virginia just two minutes back in second at 2:46:36. Third place went to Julia Flower of Charlotte, North Carolina in 2:49:01, making three women inside 2:49 and four inside 2:50. That kind of compression at the front is unusual for a field of this size and reflects how competitive the women’s race was from the mid-point onwards.
Fourth was Bowman Shaughnessy of Virginia Beach in 2:49:49 and fifth was Kate Llorente of Englewood, Colorado in 2:51:01 — a second Colorado runner in the top five to go with Slade’s win.
